New England Auto Dealer ask Customers to take the Pledge to not text and drive

Berlin City Auto Group has partnered with Portland's NBC affiliate, WSCH News Center 6, to help promote its 'Drive for Safety' campaign. The campaign, a year-long initiative, is a series of public service announcements and online chats with experts, asking Mainer drivers to put down the phone and pledge not to text while driving.

Released in January 2011, the Maine Transportation Safety Coalition's report noted that distraction was among the most common factors in fatal vehicle crashes in the state-second next to speeding. Although one of the most common distractions, it might also be the easiest to control-texting while driving.

"We want to help keep drivers safe in Maine," explains Yegor Malinovskii, vice president of Berlin City Auto Group. "This is just another way the team at Berlin City shows our support for a safe community."

As a sponsor of the Drive for Safety campaign, Yegor and his team will appear on PSA's and help explain the dangers of distracted driving, asking drivers and passengers to help support the cause.
